Accra Art Week (AAW) is an annual weekly celebration of art and design taking place from the 17th to 22nd December, 2018 in the city of Accra, Ghana. This year, been the very first edition, seeks to draw awareness on the buzzing art culture in the region. Over the years, Accra has been described as a rising hub for art and culture by many media outlets across the globe.
During AAW, visitors have an all access pass to the city’s creative spaces through a series of exhibitions, pop-ups and performances; showcasing the work of established and emerging artists of Ghanaian and African art/design.
This combines with a dynamic programme of talks, workshops, film screenings, and art tours. Accra Art Week has something for the whole family.

AAW Rising Star
Isshaq Ismail (Ghanaian , b .1989 ) is a versatile painter of Ghanaian descent who is quickly emerging on the global art scene. Isshaq harmonizes a variety of media and techniques to spark a dialogue on issues such as identity, community, self-awareness, mental health among others. Predominantly, his work is covered in acrylic and oil paint via palette knife. His inspiration is drawn from everyday human interactions as well as from his own personal experience.
This year Isshaq Ismail has been recognised as AAW’s Rising Star. Make sure to look out for his work during the Accra Art Week.
