Amba Gallery is a contemporary art space situated on the grounds of Kempinski Gold Ghost Hotel in the Galleria. Founded by Ghanaian business man and Art collector, Mr. Amadu Baba, the creative art space is designed to showcase, promote and educate on the pedigree of African art and history. Amba is an eponymous art gallery derived from the first two letters in Mr. Amadu Baba’s name, phonetically pronounced “Amba”. Also its name is as a result of the colour amba reflected in the use of terracotta within the gallery walls.
The gallery’s layout allows for seamless navigation through exhibitions, creating an immersive environment for visitors to explore and appreciate the artwork on display.
In addition to its exhibition space, Amba Gallery frequently hosts artist talks, workshops, and events that facilitate interaction and learning. These activities provide opportunities for artists, curators, and art enthusiasts to come together, exchange ideas, and deepen their understanding of the artistic process and the context behind the artwork.
Amba Gallery also actively participates in local and international art fairs, further amplifying the exposure and reach of Ghanaian and African artists. Through these events, the gallery helps connect artists with collectors and curators, fostering opportunities for collaboration and artistic growth.
As a leading art gallery in Accra, Amba Gallery plays a crucial role in shaping the contemporary art landscape in Ghana. Its dedication to promoting Ghanaian and African art, supporting artists, and facilitating dialogue contributes to the cultural development of the region.
