Brandon Bortei-Doku is an emerging artist from Accra, Ghana, who merges African, classical, impressionist and contemporary art concepts into his artworks.

Brandon’s artworks place Black figures on a pedestal, reminiscent of Greek sculptures, with the aim of glorifying Black culture and challenging the viewer to see African art in ways not initially imagined. Brandon’s fascination with sculpture initially arose from seeing the striking beauty and detail of the Ife sculptures of Nigeria, which contrasts the more widely known cubist and primitive perspective on African art.
Brandon mainly uses the impressionist pallete and techniques in his artworks, to help vivdly capture scenes throughout his life, as well as depict the journey and experience of Black people and their history. His work also integrates Gha- naian cloth, jewelry and ancient writing as symbols, uniquely incorporated into his works.
