FAMOUS ARTIST Bright Tetteh Ackwerh

He is a Ghanaian satirical artist who employs the domains of popular art, street art, painting, and illustration to voice and document his persuasions.

Bright Tetteh Ackwerh, a graduate from the KNUST, Born in Accra, Ghana.

Attended Accra Academy and studied Visual Arts for his senior high school education, before proceeding to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to study for BFA and MFA degrees in painting.He completed his first degree in 2011 and served as a teaching assistant the following year.
He is a Ghanaian satirical artist who employs the domains of popular art, street art, painting, and illustration to voice and document his persuasions. Bright’s art is characterized by its satirical representation of Ghanaian socio-political and religious issues. His artwork is meant to spark conversations and debates as he draws inspiration from African heroes like Fela Kuti, FOKN Bois for their unapologetic artistic truth-telling. His artwork often explores themes of power, identity, and culture, challenging viewers to think critically about the world around them. In 2016, Ackwerh’s bold approach to contemporary art earned him the prestigious Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Ghanaian Art.
Bright has featured in numerous art exhibitions both in Ghana and internationally, including the Art X Lagos Exhibition in Nigeria, major exhibitions by Blaxtarlines in Kumasi, and the Chale Wote Street Art Festival in Accra. In 2016, he was awarded the Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Ghanaian Art at an event held at Ringway Estates in Accra.

Over the years, Bright has utilized social media to share his works and spark meaningful dialogue around the themes explored in his illustrations and paintings. He has also participated in group exhibitions in Accra, Paris, Johannesburg, and Los Angeles. In October 2017, he was featured in CNN African Voices, and he was recognized among the top 10 artists in the Barclays L’Atelier Art Competition that same year.
