FAMOUS ARTIST Kingsley Deffor

Kingsley Deffor, also known as Deff Art (b. 1985) is a Ghanaian artist hailing from the Volta region of Ghana and based in the suburb of LA where he currently lives and works. He is an alumnus of City Business Secondary college and Ultimate School of Arts in Ghana where he received a fundamental visual arts education.

As a man of the Christian faith, he finds himself taking abstract concepts and applying them to real life situations. Usually sharing the stories of the very people in his community that inspire his work. The “joie de vivre” of everyday life is ever present in his subjects. Their sense of survival, their zest for human connection, a longing to be seen and heard.

Deffart’s work showcases versatility and dexterity across media and context. On the one hand, he has helped to shape communities of Osu in Accra by executing murals in public spaces and in private homes that portray local history. Much like his contemporaries, the culture of giving back through art is intertwined with his practice. By the same token, Deffart has also graced the walls of many exhibition spaces in his hometown Accra and across the world.
