FAMOUS ARTIST Samuella Graham

She has also participated in exhibitions and residencies that include a project at Nkyinkyim Museum contributing to community‑centered art engagements and socially relevant art practices.

Samuella Graham (also known as “Samo”) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Accra, Ghana.

A 2019 graduate in Communication Design from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), she began her creative career in advertising and graphic design before evolving into a visual artist blending painting, collage, digital art, and performance.
Her works are distinguished by a “pixelated” aesthetic shaped by her design background and personal visual perception that merges realism, abstraction, and surrealism to explore themes such as womanhood, period‑poverty, human vulnerability, relationships, identity and our connection with nature.
Graham’s practice has gained growing recognition locally and internationally. She has exhibited in dynamic group shows such as Modern Matriarchs: Charting New Frontiers in Art at Windsor Gallery in Lagos (February–March 2024), where she featured among a pan‑African cohort of women artists redefining contemporary art on the continent.
She has also participated in exhibitions and residencies that include a project at Nkyinkyim Museum contributing to community‑centered art engagements and socially relevant art practices.

More than just aesthetic practice, Samuella Graham’s art serves as social commentary and a platform for dialogue: addressing under‑discussed issues such as gender inequality, cultural taboos, and emotional experiences. With a growing body of work and increasing visibility, she is becoming a significant voice in Ghana’s contemporary art scene — a creative whose work bridges graphic design, fine art, and social consciousness.
